Did 2020 teach us that control and planning are just a big illusion?
In short - NO, it hasn’t. Quite the opposite actually, IF you are willing to accept a few truths about your life and Life in general.
Ready? Buckle up - it could be a bumpy ride.
There are three truths that you must consider. Each of them is a truth that you must accept on faith as it cannot be proven. I share it with you because my life tends to work better when I accept these as truths. Therefore the only reason that behooves me to call them “truths” is my own experience. Yours may be different and mileage may vary.
3 Truths to consider:
No situation is insurmountable.
Improving a situation takes the same process with or without a crisis.
You are more solid than you think.
Truth #1: There are no insurmountable situations. Only lacking leaders. Life does not create a crisis or give you a dilemma that you cannot handle. That said, you must still lead yourself out of the crisis, and make the best out of the circumstances, thereby expressing true leadership, and yes, you are a leader. You must take complete and full ownership and responsibility. No excuses; no one to blame. As I said, a bumpy ride.
Truth #2: There is absolutely no difference between getting out of a crisis and improving a situation without a crisis. The perceived difference comes from our own interpretation of a change and labeling it “crisis”. Therefore the same process will handle both situations. Good leaders know that process, practice it, and debrief their results to improve their command of it so that they better handle future situations.
Truth #3: You always have a solid foundation that you can lean on at your disposal. I am not talking about God. If you believe in God, this solid foundation is in addition to the comfort of knowing that God is always there for you. The reason why it is always available is because it is part of you. Yes, Luke, the Force really is within.
We have all been taught to believe things that contradict these 3 truths. This makes it difficult to believe it and express them in action. You must first UNlearn other stuff that you were taught so you can get on board with these three.
But it’s worth it. so. freakin'. much!
The power that you acquire through the adoption of these three truths makes every effort to get there worth it. You gain control that’s unprecedented compared to what you have been brought up to believe may be available to you.
And it comes with results that you never thought you could achieve.
Extreme leaders are not born.
Extreme leadership is taught and acquired through Education.
Find a mentor, a teacher, a coach, and get started. You'll be glad that you did.
